Something to make you chuckle as you get ready for "back to school".
I was online back-to-school shopping and came across this image of a mom and dad (or 2 neighbors) in their pajamas, toasting mimosas as the bus arrived. I don't regularly feel this way about my kids. However, it certainly is funny and something most parents can identify with at some point.
On the Jersey Shore, summer is coming to a close and it went very fast. I know people say that every year. Hurricane Sandy, forced schools to close several weeks for repairs. To make the required number of days, the kids stayed in school through late June.
I'm just getting used to having the kids around and it's time to send them back. It's bittersweet, but good for all of us. My kids need to be with their friends. They tell me they're bored. (I'd pay large sums of money for boredom.) And, I need to concentrate at work without being interrupted by phone calls asking, where we keep the milk.
Along with the supply list that includes writing utensils, types of folders and notebooks, I address clothes shopping. They've outgrown everything. I have 2 boys and sneaker shopping is enough to send me over the edge. They want 10 pairs each! I'm a girl. I certainly understand the need for 100 pairs of shoes, as they are all different. But, sneakers? No. I limit them to 1 fashion pair and 1 set of gym shoes. So, they talk their grandparents into buying them 1 more. In 6 months, the sneakers are going to be trashed and the kids will be asking for new ones.
In addition to the trips to the mall, my kids go shopping in the Kiditude.com warehouse for some signature pieces to pump up their wardrobes. My younger son loves character clothing like Lego Ninjago and Chima toddler t-shirts. My older son is into gaming and goes for Minecraft t-shirts. He also grabs a few band tees whose music he loves.
I probably won't be toasting with my neighbors next month but I will be happy to get back to our normal routine and hours. This summer was one of our best and I'm exhausted from all the fun!
